The early days of the company
and development
Suomen Imurikeskus Oy started by importing industrial vacuum cleaners, but its own production was boosted in 1987 when Kari Ekholm developed the Hurricane industrial vacuum cleaner. This innovative model was specifically designed for the removal of fine dry dust - and is still in production almost 40 years later. The Eurovac brand and the Hurricane were established right from the start.
The company started in Pomarkku, where only three people worked at the beginning. With a small but committed team, they produced up to 1000 vacuum cleaners a year. Sales were boosted by a nationwide network of 26 dealers throughout Finland.
Since the beginning, Suomen Imurikeskus Oy's growth has been based on innovation, hard work and listening to customers' needs - principles that are still the cornerstones of the company's operations.
Timeline
Key steps in the company's journey
1985
Suomen Imurikeskus Oy was established in Pomarkku. Initially, the company's activities focused on the import and professional manufacture of industrial vacuum cleaners.
1986
The first customers came from the agricultural and small industrial sectors - the need for mobile and efficient cleaning solutions grew rapidly.
1987
Kari Ekholm developed the first Hurricane industrial vacuum cleaner - a solution for removing fine dry dust.
1989
More halls were built in Pomarkku, which allowed for more efficient production and larger deliveries.
1997
The company moved to a 5000 m² hall in Kankaanpää, where the focus was on sales, development and assembly of vacuum cleaners. There were almost 20 employees.
2000
Project growth. Project sales grew strongly in the domestic market.
2010
Expansion of product development. The company is focusing on customised and tailor-made solutions, expanding its range of products to become even more versatile.
2014
Return to Pomarkku. We moved to our current premises in Pomarkku
2015
Quality system in place. ISO 9001 quality system introduced - systematic development as part of everyday life.
2017
The importance of exports is growing and stabilising. More and more equipment is being exported.
2019
The number of project deliveries is increasing. Logistics and installations were made smoother. Efficient end-to-end solutions are being rolled out to different industries.
2021
Industrial dust extraction systems became more efficient and energy-efficient. Suomen Imurikeskus Oy delivered solutions that supported customers' environmental and safety objectives.
2025
40 years for a cleaner industry
Suomen Imurikeskus Oy celebrated 40 years as a Finnish family business - still with the same values: quality, reliability and responsibility.
Looking to the future
Our aim is to strengthen our exports, develop more versatile and environmentally friendly solutions with our customers. We want to promote sustainable growth and invest in long-term planning and development.
